Is this you?
Are some or all of these experiences familiar to you?
- Despite feeling like you have it better than many others (or should be more grateful for your situation), you often feel deeply dissatisfied with life.
- You have a clear goal—something that feels really energizing for you to pursue. But as you try and take steps in that direction, every challenge that comes up totally knocks your momentum away.
- While you're proud of how deeply you can learn things when you're inspired, you also feel frustrated that so little of what you've dedicated yourself to has stayed a consistent passion your life.
- You're honestly pretty brilliant in several areas, yet there are some life tasks that you really struggle with, even though they seem basic. You find yourself endlessly putting off things, and feeling frustrated at yourself for not doing something trivial.
- You've learned different ways to take care of yourself at deeper levels, but after enough overwhelm or stress, you feel like nothing you've learned actually helps.
- You often ruminate on problems, leading you to spiral out in intense feelings, and feel like it's really hard to stop the anxiety/anger/etc.
If you've resonated with one or more of these scenarios, then let me tell you that these are the kinds of people that can really benefit from the approach I take:
- Men in their 20s and 30s (this includes trans men, and nonbinary folks who align with men's issues1).
- People who go hard both on their passions, but also things they wish they did less of. For example, binging on learning hard/interesting things, practicing music, making art, or building apps, but also binging on things like videogames, youtube, porn, or food.
- People who grew up in abusive/neglectful households, people who have emotionally immature parents, and people with okay-enough childhoods.
- People who were raised with a controlling religion, and may or may not be connected to some form spirituality in their life now.
- People who struggle with "woo", and need to understand how something works to really trust it.
In terms of work and financial situations, this approach is also broadly supportive for: folks who are providing for themselves, or being supported; working a job, or unemployed; in a clear career path, or totally lost; and all that lies between.
Finally, if you hold these values, we'd be an especially great fit:
- You love a good concept, and feel at ease in yourself when you can nerd out over deep theories about reality and the processes within it.
- You have a sense that intuition is powerful, perhaps even more powerful than rationality and logic; you might like to explain how using rationality and logic 🙂.
- You want more spirituality in your life, but you don't want dogma or bullshit to go with it.
- You appreciate powerful aesthetic experiences. It means a lot for you to have moments of awe with art, science, life.
If some of this really speaks to you, subscribing to my newsletter gives you weekly support for issues like the ones talked about here, which could help you in the efforts you're already making to live with more purpose.
But also, maybe you'd like to know how my approach works first?
My approach is most supportive for trans/nonbinary folks who feel established in their identity, and want to do work from a masculine point of view. For trans-specific support, I am happy to refer you to trans/nonbinary colleagues, as well as reach out to my larger networks. Contact me anytime about this and what you're looking for.↩
